Stickers are used for many different reasons. Some are used strictly for promotional use as a giveaway at events or trade show or as a gift with purchase. Yet some are used specifically as team decals or will be applied to a surface like cars, equipment, or an outdoor surface that will need to withstand exposure to the elements. That’s where overlaminated decals come in.
Overlaminated decals provide another way to extend the life of your custom decal. Where a 1-mil clear mylar durable lamination is laid over the printed decal.
Lamination is especially important for decals that are applied to cars, bikes, trucks, snowboards, surf boards, skateboards and any stickers that will endure long term outdoor exposure and wear n’ tear.
Overlamination decals are designed for maximum protection against chemicals or abrasion and for maximum protection.
There are many different types of lamination to choose from which I explained in an article here, but the most common is a 1-mil Clear Mylar laminate.
We see lamination being used often as team stickers, where a professional athlete is paid to promote a brand and they use decals to show the logo of the company.
In this case the athlete applies the sticker to their skateboard, surfboard, vehicle, or whatever their sport requires. In the automotive racing the team stickers are referred to as contingency stickers and you often see a series of branded stickers on side of the racer’s car.
So it is very important to make sure that the stickers lasts in the heat of the battle, and doesn’t’ peel, scratch or smear and the athletes can get the shot and make nice with their sponsors. Overlaminated decals are key!
