Printing color way stickers is a smart and cost effective way to get many different colors of a single sticker design.
The photo above is an example of a how a customer used color way sticker printing to get 5 different colored stickers by using only one set of films, screens, and set-ups.
In screen printing, a new film and a new screen is made for every ink color printed. The ink is then pulled across the screen using a squeegee where it drips through tiny holes and is printed on the material.
The example above is a 1-color screen print on white vinyl with 5 color ways.
How do we do it you ask?? Well I was just about to tell you. First, we print the complete run of the first color way. Then we clean the screen using a special cleaning solution to get it ready for the next color way run. Then we print the second color way using the same screen as the first color way. We repeat this process until all five color ways are printed.
Printing a 5-color job usually requires 5 different sets of films and screens. Because we only have to produce one film and one screen to print the job above, YOU save on production costs. It’s priced as a 1-color print with 5 color changes.
There is a nominal fee to clean the screen between color ways, but cleaning the screen 4 times costs less than producing 5 independent sets of screens and films.
I hope this helps give some ideas about a way to be more cost effective on your next sticker run. If you are interested in getting a color way quote, hit me up here. Cheers!
